Lot 0040 Details

Description
A remarkable Russian silver and enamel cane. The silver tau handle is 2 1/4" high, 3 2/3" long and 2/3" in diameter. It is fashioned in a floral motif in the champleve raised enamel style, on a textured, gilded background. The enamel colors are two shades of blue, white and red, and the visual presentation is stunning. There are traces of very worn and unreadable Russian hallmarks on the silver ring at the base. The shaft is cocobolo rosewood with a 1" burnished brass and iron ferrule. The overall length is 35 1/4" and the condition is very good. It is ca 1900, and it is a superb example of the kind. Estimate: $1500-$2500.
