Description
This collection of woodblock prints are from a portfolio "Ando Hiroshige's Famous Places of More 60 Provinces". There are seven in total, Mimasaka Province, originally from 1853; Province of Oki; Nagato Province, originally from 1853; Snow in the Grounds of the Fudo Shrine at Meguro originally from c1845; Province of Tango, originally from 1853; Festival at the Itsukushima Shrine in Aki Province, originally from 1853; Mt Kaji in Inaba Province, originally from 1853. All measure approx 14 3/4" x 10", overall approx 17 1/4" x 11 3/4". These are believed to be prints from the mid 1940s.
Condition
As seen in photos, foxing on the rice paper overlays and the mattes on each. A couple appear to have had some water, but with new matte, each will display beautifully. The original portfolio is damaged on edges from years of improper storage but complete.
