Lot 0200 Details

Description
Kuntras Shavuoth. * Hemshech Tishrei. * Pesach. * Shavuoth. * VeZoth Chanukah. * Likutei Tishrei. * Birkath Avoth. Together seven pamphlets. FIRST EDITION. Original printed wrappers. Tall 8vo.
New York: 1952-55.
R. Yitzchak Hutner (1906-80) studied in his youth at the Slabodka Yeshiva in Lithuania, headed by Rabbi Nosson Tzvi Finkel, where he was known as the "Warsaw Illui." He was sent to join an extension of the Slabodka Yeshiva in Hebron and during the course of his stay in Eretz Israel became closely associated with R. Abraham Isaac Kook. Eventually, he emigrated to America serving as Rosh Yeshiva of Rabbi Chaim Berlin in Brooklyn. His public discourses on Jewish thought contained original analyses of the works of the MaHaRa"L of Prague and attracted large audiences. The present pamphlets are mimeographed written records of these discourses, penned in the neat hand of his daughter, Rebbetzin Beruriah David (now of Jerusalem.) Noted on the title of each: "Penimi, noad le'elu sheshamu baal-peh ("Internal, only for those who heard an oral version.") In due course, these discourses were published in Rav Hutner's monumental Pachad Yitzchak.
