Description

Antique c1880s Hexagon Star Quilt measuring 71in x 93in. All cotton. Tiny hexagons .5in along one side are hand pieced and arranged to created 17 stars, with alternating rosette each surround by a frame of off-white hexagons and a oxblood red path. The hexagon field was then hand appliqued onto an 8in stripe and paisley print border, with mitered corner, pieced by hand. Medium loft cotton batting, hand quilted with an off-white cotton backing.

Condition

Condition is only fair. Many fabrics are in various states of deterioration, and there is considerable edge wear. Still a very graphic textile, with a unique layout, and some fabric specialty cut to the centers of some hexagons.
