Title: PUIFORCAT / HENIN 232pc. STERLING SILVER FLATWARE SET, LOUIS XVI, 1880s TRAYSDescription: An Amazing 232pc. Sterling Silver Flatware Set by the two of the World's Premier French Silversmiths - Emile Puiforcat and Henin Freres Complete with The Coat-of-Arms of the Family "Le Compasseur-Créqui-Montfort de Courtivron " Engraved on Each Piece, Includes an Amazing Assortment of 33 Serving Pieces (circa 1885). Each Stunning Piece in this Spectacular Set was Meticulously Made by Hand to the Highest of International Standards and Bears the Hallmark of Renowned French Silversmiths, Principally "Puiforcat " & "Henin Freres, Privately Commissioned - You Can't Go Wrong Buying Quality. In 1820, Jean-Baptist Fuchs and the Puiforcat brothers (Joseph-Marie and Emile) entered into a partnership to produce high quality silver products creating The House of Puiforcat - now owned by Hermes. Since inception the House of Puiforcat has been recognized as France's premier supplier of high quality sterling silver flatware and tableware products known for their elegant, traditional styling and legendary quality. This set dates from the late 1800s. The pieces are of unparalleled quality and workmanship, intricately crafted to the highest standards - definitely not for the "common folk ". This set is in excellent condition (one of the Mother-of-Pearl Handled luncheon knives has a minor crack). Each piece bears the hallmark of Master French Silversmith Emile Puiforcat or Henin Freres (as indicated below) in addition to the French Government's Head of the Minerva - 1 Hallmark, certifying a minimum of 950 sterling silver, but before the 1930s Puiforcat used 958 sterling in their flatware pieces. The Salt Cellars, Knife Blade Rests and Mother-of-Pearl Handled Knives are from other period manufacturer's as indicated below. There are no monograms on any of the pieces except for the family's noble crest engraved on each piece (except of the salt cellars, mother-of-pearl handles knives and the knife blade rests).
