Description
ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE PEARLWARE TRANSFER-PRINTED AMERICAN HISTORICAL CERAMIC JUG / PITCHER, having dark blue transfer image below spout of an eagle with spread wings and shield, gripping arrows in talons and holding a ribbon in beak inscribed "E. PLURIBUS UNUM" with bold floral design to both sides, having floral and scroll border. Unmarked. William Adams IV & Sons, Stoke-on-Trent, England. Second quarter 19th century. 7" HOA.
Having some expected wear to handle, spout, and rim with some scattered scratches to shoulder, a light radial hairline to base underside that does not appear to go through to interior, a flake to spout, and rim having a hairline with a few minor flakes. Having some manufacturing flaws, including kiln kiss to shoulder and firing separations near top handle terminal and spout, as made.
