Edward Hopper (American, 1882-1967) - Fine Art Print on

Lot 6050 Details

Description
This lot consists of a fine art print on paper, done in the realist style of Edward Hopper (American, 1882-1967). Graphite inscription at bottom reads, "VI/XXX. Edward Hopper". Image depicts a lone rural church, neatly designed and singular in its appeal. Done in the realist style for which Hopper is so well known. A simple framing would make this piece a highlight to any collection. Unframed measurements approximately 9" x 13".

Reverse side of piece features several illegible stamps and inscriptions, which have mostly been concealed by the thick, black strokes of a colored pencil.

Edward Hopper (American, 1882-1967) was raised in a home on the Hudson River. He showed early artistic talent. Following two years of illustration work at the turn of the 20th century, Hopper became a student at the New York School of Art under William Merritt Chase and Robert Henri. Hopper credited the latter as being his most influential teacher. In his urban and rural studies, Edward Hopper's spare and finely calculated compositions reflected his personal vision of modern American life and have become instantly identifiable to art lovers everywhere.
