1950 Signed/sealed PAPAL indulgence historical/religious ephemera!
To gain a plenary indulgence, upon performing the charitable work or praying the aspiration or prayer for which the indulgence is granted, one must fulfill the prescribed conditions of a complete and wholehearted detachment from all sin of any kind, even venial sin.
This is a very hard-to-find, framed collectable historical religious document and ephemera item from the 1950 Roman Catholic Holy Year, a papal blessing/indulgence signed and embossed, it looks like in Vatican City, by Archbishop Giuseppe Migone 1875 to 1951 on behalf of the Holy Father Pope Pius XII 1876 to 1958 Holy Father from 1939 to 1958, born Eugenio Maria Giuseppe Giovanni Pacelli.
Migone was Archbishop of Nicomedia, a bishop in the Sistine Chapel, assistant to the Pontifical Throne and Vatican canon, and secret almoner to Pius XII.
The recipients of this certificate were Mr. and Mrs. Leoluca Artale, Americans who immigrated from Sicily and who presumably were on pilgrimage to Rome and Vatican City for the 1950 Jubilee Year.
The certificate is in English, except that Archbishop Migone's inscription seems to be in Latin hard to make out the handwriting.
This item is ideal for pious Catholics, admirers of Pope Pius XII or Archbishop Migone, members of the Artale family, or Vatican philatelists, stamp collectors or numismatists, coin collectors, especially those exhibiting in stamp shows, philatelic congresses or coin shows, numismatic congresses.
it's a great companion piece to Vatican stamps, covers, or coins, especially those featuring the 1950 Holy Year or Pope Pius XII.
Frame measures approximately 15.25 inches (38.7 cm) high by 11 inches (27.9 cm) wide.
It looks like it might be parchment or vellum, but I'm not sure, since I acquired it already framed, it may be paper.<p
