LOUIS XV, King of France (1710-1774) Le Sacre de Louis XV.dans l'Eglise de Reims.[Paris: c.1723]. Large folio (660 x 490mm). Engraved throughout. Title, list of engravers, 22 leaves of text each set within decorative rococo borders, 9 double-page plates of the ceremony, 30 plates of the ceremonial officials in full regalia, double page engraved table at end. Mid 19th century French blue half morocco, spine gilt in 6 compartments, raised bands, one compartment lettered in gilt. Condition: four short wrenched tears at inner plate marks of first 4 text leaves due to strong impressions, very occasional light spotting mostly to margins, corners of binding bumped, head and foot of spine chipped. Provenance; SZ (ownership blind stamp initials on each leaf at lower blank margin) A fine copy of the 'official' published record of the Coronation of Louis XV at Rheims on 25th October 1722, with grand double-page views of the ceremony as well as detailed costume portraits of the conducting officials.
