Description
ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE FLOW BLUE TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC TABLE AND TEA ARTICLES, LOT OF FIVE, comprising a covered open-handled sugar and creamer having "Touraine" pattern, a teapot with undertray featuring bold floral motif with relief scroll designs and gilt highlights, and a covered oval server having the "Lorne" pattern featuring groups of clover. Printed marks include "TOURAINE / SEMI PORCELAIN / HENRY ALCOCK & Co / ENGLAND" and "LORNE / TRADE MARK / W. H. GRINDLEY CO. ENGLAND". Henry Alcock & Co., Cobridge & Stoke-on-Trent; W.H. Grindley Co., Tunstall, England. Second half 19th century/first quarter 20th century. Teapot 7 1/8" HOA, 9" x 6 1/8" rim.
Three undamaged; cover of server with glued finial repair and moderate crazing; teapot with a few minute flakes to interior gallery. Manufacturing flaws include creamer having firing separation on spout and teapot with glazed over flake to spout, as made.
Provenance: From the John & late Evelyn Teague Collection, Bloomingdale, IN.

Three undamaged; cover of server with glued finial repair and moderate crazing; teapot with a few minute flakes to interior gallery. Manufacturing flaws include creamer having firing separation on spout and teapot with glazed over flake to spout, as made.
