The loomed wearable art weaving described by the maker as a Ceremonial Carpet Coat, medium/large in size, inspired by traditional Chief's blanket designs, loomed in wool, lined in silk, adorned with twisted fringe.
Mahota Handwovens are created by Margaret Roach Wheeler, a Native American of Chikasaw-Choctaw descent. This work of fiber art was commissioned for a fashion show that took place at the Grand Opening of The Inn of The Anasazi in Santa Fe. It was then purchased at the Indian Market in 1991.
Measures 33 x 45 without the fringe.
