American School, late 19th/early 20th c ., "Posthumous Portrait of a Girl", oil on canvas, unsigned, 24 in. x 20 in., framed . Provenance: Dart/McCloskey Family, New Orleans Condition Report: Not removed from frame; cleaned with multiple campaigns of restoration; relined, retained original stretcher bars; difficult to penetrate varnish layer; scattered areas of inpainting throughout sitter's forehead, face, and dress; scattered areas of inpainting throughout background; surface dirt; scattered abrasions throughout. Frame - giltwood frame; losses, scratches, marks and abrasions throughout; stains throughout; separation in corners; surface dirt . Exterior frame dimensions - 29 3/4 in. x 25 1/2 in. x 1/4 in. IMPORTANT: All purchases must be removed from our premises within 10 days of the auction. Any items not picked up or remaining at the end of the 10-day period will be donated. * When available condition information is included with lot description. Estimates are commensurate with condition of item. * All sales are final, we will not cancel or refund any purchases. Bid accordingly.
