Hand-carved with painted images of birds and flowers including a painted back panel of a man holding a rifle in a landscape setting...many theories around that panel....Protecting child?...Shotgun wedding? etc.
Dimensions: H: 17 1/4 in., W: 17 1/2 in., L: 23 1/2 in.
Condition: no repairs noted, good colors, back painted panel with man holding rifle has wood separation.
Provenance: Boston, Massachusetts estate.
