Description
ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE FLOW BLUE TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF 14, including six plates with Chinoiserie patterns including "Kyber", "Chapoo", "Formosa", "Sobraon" and "Bamboo" with lime green ground border, and eight plates with scenic/romantic themed patterns including "London", "Oriental", "Moselle", "Morea", "Non Pareil", and "Ruins". Together with two 5 1/8" D bowls featuring "Tonquin" pattern by W. Adams & Sons, Tunstall. Sixteen (16) pieces total. W. Adams & Sons, Stoke-on-Trent; J. Wedgwood, Etruria; Burgess & Leigh, Middleport; Copeland, Late Spode, Stoke-on-Trent, E. Wood, Burslem; J. Kent, Fenton; J. Goodwin, Longton, England. Second half 19th/first half 20th century. 7 1/8" to 10 3/4" D.
Ten undamaged, except some examples with moderate crazing, losses to gilt decorations, and expected short scattered scratches to interior from use; one bowl with flake to rim; Kyber example with moderate hairline, Chapoo example with painted over rim flake, London example with flakes to rim underside and hairline, Oriental example with rim wear and glaze flakes to underside, Old Castle example with flake to rim underside. Some having firing imperfections, including Morea example with separation on underside, as made.

Provenance: Property deaccessioned by The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York, to benefit the collections fund.
