Account of the first descent of the Colorado River, by geologist Powell, who was to become the second head of the U.S. Geological Survey. Francis Farquhar calls it "one of the basic documents of Colorado River history." Farquhar Colorado River 42a; Graff 3336; Howes P528.

Condition
Some rubbing and staining to cloth; corner tips worn, bottom half of spine strip repaired; light toning to interior, folding profile with some clear tape reinforcement to backside at folds, folding map with a few minuscule tears at folds; very good.
