Description
Stanley Wingate Woodward,Massachusetts,1890-1970
Plein air impressionist landscape of a rocky trail through the White Mountains with a craggy pine tree in the foreground. Notice the blue-purple monetesque color used throughout the mountainous background. Woodward was an accomplished painter of the Rockport community having exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
Oil on Masonite,Masonite11 3/4" x 16",Frame 15 3/4" x 19 3/4"
From the collection of an Uxbridge, Massachusetts gentleman.
Signed "Stanley Woodward" in lower right corner.
Condition
Small stable crack to masonite lower left, does not effect display and is barely visible from front, otherwise good condition.
