Title: Antique Japanese Sword - A Kaneuji WakizashiOrigin: JapanDate/Period: 1532-1554Dimensions: 20 7/8 Nagasa
A Mino Kaneuji Wakizashi in Shira Saya. This is a signed Kaneuji wakizashi. I believe that this Kaneuji worked in Seki during the Tenbun era (1532-54) based on my research. (Please note that I am not an expert and only a Japanese Shinsa of the NBTHK or NTHK would be able to issue authentication papers attesting to the exact generation Kaneuji smith) As with most of the Kaneuji smiths, this sword is very well made and this Wakizashi shows classic Mino technique which is well known for supreme sharpness and unique hamon. I have attempted to take close up pictures of the hamon to show the details. This wakizashi measures 20 7/8 in from Kissaki to Habaki. The nakago is ubu (un shortened) with one makugi hole. It is in excellent polish and comes with a Japanese Ho wood traditional Shira Saya.
