Description
Nicholas II 84 Zolotnik (.875) Silver Gilt and Cloisonne Enamel Spoon, Moscow, 1897-1898, by Gustav Klingert, the ovoid bowl reverse decorated with fine shaded polychromed floral cloisonne enamel on a matte silver gilt ground, the spiral-twist finial decorated en suite, l. 7-1/2", 1.54 t. oz.
Condition
Overall Condition: Good. Small chips/loss to the enamel in one of the navette-shaped cells and three of the heart-shaped cells in the finial. Otherwise the enamel is in very good condition, with a few scattered firing bubbles on the bowl of the spoon. Beautiful shading. Significant wear to the gilding, especially on the stem. Marks (on the stem): 1) the "84/St. George" combination fineness/Moscow city mark in use ca. 1897-1898, and 2) "GK" [Cyrillic] mark of Gustav Klingert.
