Description
Pair of Nicholas II 84 Zolotnik (.875) Silver Gilt and Cloisonne Enamel Napkin Rings, Moscow, 1897-1898, by Vasily Agafanov, each decorated with a band of translucent red flowers in white rings separated by dark blue arabesques, all on a turquoise ground between white pelleted edges, h. 1-3/8", dia. 1-7/8", 2.44 total t. oz.
Condition
Overall Condition: Good. Some hairline fractures to the enamel scattered throughout both, mostly undetectable without 10x magnification. Tiny losses on one ring to two of the opaque white circles. Marks (one the matte ground, near the edge): 1) the "84/St. George" combination fineness/Moscow city mark in use ca. 1897-1898; 2) the "VA" [Cyrillic] maker's mark of V. Agafanov.
