Description

A Georgian portrait miniature and chain. The portrait miniature, depicting Mary Turton, with 19th century 12ct gold split pearl scrolling mount and surmount, suspended from an 18ct gold Georgian star motif belcher-link chain. Length of pendant 5.5cms. Length of chain 95.5cms. Total weight 66.3gms. With period fitted case. PROVENANCEWith documentation of the family history which details the locket.

Condition

Overall condition good. Few surface scratches in keeping with general age and wear.

Split pearls are well matched with a creamy white hue, good lustre.

Turquoise are a varied light blue through green, with small nicks/chips and very slight matrix visible.

Few scratches to the glass.

Case shows small split to the edge near a hook.

Morrocan leather shows scuffs and minor losses.
