Description

A selection of 17th/18th century gold diamond jewellery. To include a rose-cut diamond cross and cluster motif openwork necklace on later back-chain, together with a table-cut diamond cross pendant and table-cut diamond foliate pendant. Necklace with maker's mark JS. Pendants with marks, indistinct. Length of necklace 52cms. Length of pendants 5 and 3.8cms. Total weight 43.5gms.

Condition

Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

Necklace back-chain is later replacement.

Central diamond to necklace possible replacement. One diamond to link closest to the cross motif has principal diamond noticeably chipped.

Diamonds in closed back settings, presumed foil back.

Diamonds vary, some with surface reaching inclusions.

At least four of the necklace panels are stuck with the JS maker's marks. Possible further marks obscured.
