Description
FRENCH GILT BRONZE & CHAMPLEVE ENAMEL HOLY WATER FONT, 19 century. The heavy gilt bronze frame of scrolling foliage set with a carved and shaped alabaster support (repaired) upon which is set an elaborate gilt-bronze and champleve enamel frame with cross finial, applied monogram "N.D." and holding a hand painted and gilded porcelain oval plaque of Our Lady of Lourdes, above a similarly enamel font with hinged lid. Verso with brass back plate, folding support strut, and suspension loop. Height 13.50 inches (34.5 centimeters) Estimate $300-$500 Euro 200-300
