Lot 0569 Details

Description
A late Victorian 18ct gold coral brooch. Of circular outline, the bead accent coral, within a rope-twist and similarly-designed coral surround. Diameter 3.2cms. Weight 9.1gms. Coral untested.
Condition
  • Overall condition good. Some scratches in keeping with general wear.
  • Glazed panel to reverse.
  • Lead solder can be seen to reverse.
  • Replacement brooch pin, base metal.
  • Coral untested for natural colour origin.
  • Corals are a fairly well matched, slightly mottled medium orangey pink colour, some with polyp holes.
  • Corals in fair to good condition with some abrasion and small chips. One with a linear feather across the stone.
  • Diameter of principal coral 6mms.

  • Glazed panel in good condition with some abrasions.
  • Metal electronically tests as 18ct gold.
  • Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
  • Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked. Results from electronically tested items should only be used as a guide and with caution, as false readings are possible.
