Marc Chagall (Russian/French, 1887-1985) color lithograph on wove paper titled "David and Absalom", plate 133 from Chagall's "The Bible Lithographs" series, published by Verve, Paris/1956. Depicts the scene from II Samuel 14: 28-33 in which Absalom bows at King David's feet. Numbered lower left "9/75" and signed lower right. Title and additional number "G 75/9" en verso upper margin. Unframed. 14" H x 10 3/8" W. French, mid 20th century. (Additional high-resolution photos are available at www.caseantiques.com.)
Overall fading; entire left and upper edges of lithograph bent/creased from being improperly framed in a frame that was too small. Some scattered chipping to paper edges, a couple of errant scratches and small pin sized holes.
