Description
French newspaper fragment containing comical ink additions to photograph, attributed to/in the manner of Pablo Picasso*. [Picasso is known to have made many such comical ink additions to newspaper photographs.] Newspaper fragment is irregular in shape and measures approximately 8 3/8 x 4 inches. Unframed.

Provenance: Almost certainly given to the consignor's father by his long-time friend, Monsieur Hubert de Saint-Senoch (Paris), the esteemed French collector. Thence by descent to the present owner, ca. 1997.

A single newspaper sheet from 1945, having sketches attributed to or in the manner of Pablo Picasso, separated into four sections and having the same Saint-Senoch provenance, was sold in these salesrooms in December 2013.

Lot Note: Many items from the estate of Hubert de Saint-Senoch were sold by Sotheby's, Monaco, in the early 1990's.
