This book is a narrative and pictoral history of the city of Chicago from the days of the first white man to the inception of the 2nd Worlds Fair. It contains hundreds of black and white photos and copies of daguerreotypes from as early as 1854. Included are many photos of buildings that existed before the Great Fire in 1871.
Regular index plus index of Biographical Sketches at rear. With hundreds of illustrations from photographs, prints, and drawings.
Hard Cover in Very Good to Excellent Condition. Clothbound Hardcover is lightly scuffed from age related wear but is otherwise without stains or marks. Top and bottom spine edges are lightly frayed and the front cover has a 6 inch split along the spine edge; corners are not bent or frayed. Binding is tight and paper hinges intact. Pages are age yellowed but without stains or marks; no loose or missing pages; no odor or mustiness.
