Description
Native American, southwestern United States, Navajo tribe, ca. mid-20th century CE, signed by B. Yazzi on verso. A lovely vintage necklace composed of forty-eight pierced turquoise stones, fourteen spherical sterling silver spacer beads, and a large turquoise stone set within a squash blossom pendant. The spacer beads each bear numerous incised linear and circular motifs, and the squash blossom pendant boasts several peripheral loops which surround a corded border, all beneath a cylindrical silver bead with a flared base. A wonderful and wearable example of fine Navajo artistry! Amethyst fragment for photography purposes only. Size (necklace): 17.75" L (45.1 cm); size (pendant): 1.125" W x 1.625" H (2.9 cm x 4.1 cm); quality of sterling silver: 95%.

Strung in modern times and wearable as shown. Light patina to sterling silver elements, small chips to some turquoise stones, and slight bending to squash blossom pendant, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits within some recessed areas. The word "sterling" and the name "B. Yazzi" etched into verso.
