Helen Elizabeth Pelletreau was the third President of the Pennsylvania Female College and the first woman to hold the office. As President, she worked to secure the College financially by bringing it out of debt and was able to increase the number of students. When she left Pittsburgh in 1894, a scholarship committee was formed in her honor. Cook p.225
