Sir Francis Seymour Haden (British, 1818 - 1910), 1864, 2nd state, drypoint etching on paper, titled, 'Newcastle Emlyn 17 Aug 1864', depicting a country scene with a covered chaise cart next to a building with the trade sign, 'Ben Davis Smith'. Signed in graphite, 'Seymour Haden' in the margins and signed and dated in the plate.

Dimensions are: image - 4 1/2“ tall X 5 3/4“ wide, paper - 8“ tall X 9 1/2“ wide, taped to mat - 12 1/2" tall X 13 3/4" wide. All measurements are approximate. Sir Francis Seymour Haden (British, 1818 - 1910) was best known for being a part of the late 19th century revival of the etcher's art and was a contemporary of artists including: James McNeill Whistler (1834–1903) and Alphonse Legros (1837–1911). An example of this drypoint engraving can be found in the permanent archive of the Metropolitan Museum of Art: 17.3.316.

Condition: No noted damage.

Provenance: Oakridge Auction Gallery has been entrusted to bring an archive of paintings by Francis Focer Brown (American, 1891–1971) and Beulah H. Brown (American, 1892–1987), a.k.a. Beulah Elizabeth Hazelrigg Brown, to market. This archive is believed to have
