Description
ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE "FAIRY VILLAS", FLOW BLUE TRANSFER-PRINTED ARTICLES, LOT OF SEVEN, comprising three sauce boats, a 8 1/4" x 5" tray, and a covered butter dish with strainer. Some with printed marks "Stone China / Fairy / Villas / W. ADAMS & Co. TUNSTALL / ENGLAND", with additional impressed marks. William Adams & Co., Greengates, Tunstall. Late 19th century. Sauce boats 5 1/2" HOA, butter dish 4 1/4" HOA.
Mostly undamaged; some discoloration on strainer and dish; lid with possible restoration and flake on exterior rim; two sauce boats with flakes and discoloration on spouts.
Literature: Transferware Collectors Club database pattern #2446.
Provenance: From a private Ohio collection.
