Lot 0039 Details

Description
A mid Victorian gold coral brooch. The coral carved to depict Bacchus putting his hand to Cupid's shoulder, with grapevine openwork surround and coral fringe. May be worn as a pendant. Length 8.5cms. Weight 29.3gms.
Condition
  • Overall condition good to fair. Some surface scratches/wear slight discolouration in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Metal recently cleaned to a high finish.
  • Replacement fittings.
  • Glue visible to one coral drop. with small chip to top.
  • Coral cavity with glue to Cupid's legs and bow.
  • Width (at widest) 51mms.
  • May be worn as a pendant. Hinged tapered surmount to reverse.
  • Length as pendant 9.1cms.
  • Corals are a well matched, slightly mottled medium orangey pink colour, with minor polyp holes.
