This flat-bottomed 8" diameter bowl is hand stamped with two horned water serpents, representing Avanyu, the storm bringer and guardian of water. Extraordinarily detailed, it was made by Awa Tsireh (AKA Alfonso Roybal) a self-taught artist from the San Ildefonso pueblo. His work, which is in MoMA, the Smithsonian, Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian in Santa Fe and other major collections, has never been mass-produced, and his name has not been licensed. Every piece stamped with Awa Tsireh's name was made by him, personally. 1 7/8"H x 8"W x 8"D; pre-1955; stamped "Handmade by Indians" over "Awa Tsireh." Next to the hallmark, someone has faintly scribed "c.c.o." The metal is believed to be German silver.Domestic: Flat-rate of $18.90 to anywhere within the contiguous U.S.International: Foreign shipping rates are determined by destination.Combined shipping: Please ask about combined shipping for multiple lots before bidding.Location: This item ships from California
