Description
GERMAN TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC CHILDREN'S ARTICLES, LOT OF 13, including two cups and three plates with transfer images of children playing and molded accents, one mug with "THE BABES IN THE WOOD" design and a bird-shaped whistle on the handle, and one saucer with pink ground and molded alphabet border. Four pieces marked "GERMANY" to bases, three with numerical marks, otherwise unmarked. Late 19th/first quarter 20th century. Tallest mug 3" H.
Nine pieces undamaged; one plate with roughness and few chips on foot rim; one cup with one chip on foot rim; one cup with small flake and hairline on rim; one plate with one chip on rim; five total pieces with expected gilding or lustre losses.
Provenance: From the 50-plus year collection of the late Joan M. Wentz, Germansville, PA.
