This fossil has been transfered onto a resin slab, as usual for the fossils found in the Messel quarry.The fish has a size of 28.5 cm, and the slab is 40 x 16 cm. Please note the perfect preservation of the skull, the nice scales and the availability of the tail.This is a rare oportunity to acquire an outstanding fossil from a "classic" closed locality. It comes from the estate of a collector who was lucky enough to dig there before the site has been closed for private collectors (fossil dug in the 1970s). This is the best specimen he found in all the years digging at the Messel shale quarry.
