3rd-4th century AD. A bronze finger ring with irregular ellipsoid shape, round-section hoop thickening to the the shoulders to support an elliptical bezel with inscribed eagle, star and ear of corn. Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 230 for shape. 7.42 grams, 28.21mm overall, 18.24 x 15.09mm internal diameter (approximate size British I, USA 4 1/4, Europe 7.44, Japan 7) (1"). From an important North West London collection; acquired in the late 1980s-early 1990s.
