Robert de Vaugondy's superb map of "the land of the Hebrews or Israelites divided by the order of God among the twelve tribes descended from the twelve sons of Jacob," derived from maps and manuscripts by Nicholas and Guillaume Sanson. The main map shows the tribal divisions on both sides of the Jordan as well as Levitical and sanctuary towns. The inset map is of the "kingdom of the Hebrews under Solomon." The magnificent title cartouche is flanked by images of Moses and Aaron under palms and cedars.
