Description
Circa 1830. Exceptional detail in the face and eyes. Depicts an female in black with a white bonnet sitting with a female child dressed in period red dress. Both are holding an open book. 36" H x 28" W. Upon blacklight examination, one small area to ladies right sleeve appx. 1" x .25" has had touch-up paint. Craquelure throughout. In large scrolled giltwood frame; minor losses to frame. Canvas "Prepared by Charles Roberson 51 Long Acre London" en verso. Either American or Continental.
