Very Rare And Important Beijing Palace Carpet 'Qing-Dynasty', Northeast China, 19th century, wool/cotton, approx. 350 x 280 cm, condition: 2-3 (bright tones oxidized, otherwise good), this carpet is because of his design and ornamentation made for the palaces or monasterys in the forbidden-city Beijing (probably made for a highly person or for a public-official), natural dyes with indigo- blue coloration, the dark-blue field shows different symbols like shell (call to prayer), honor umbrella (appreciation and compassion), canopy (mental authority), books (human culture) and clouds, in the center dragon- pearl/flaming-pearl, upper part and the part below with mountain 'Meruh', unusual border.
