1856 Life of David Brainerd Native American INDIAN Missionary Puritan Edwards
“Oh that I could spend every moment of my life to God's glory.” ― David Brainerd
‘The Life of David Brainerd’ is a biographical account of the famous evangelical missionary by theologian Jonathan Edwards. Edwards took Brainerd’s personal diary and edited and published it as a report on Brainerd’s missions to the Native Americans in Delaware and New Jersey. While Edwards left the majority of the diary intact, he changed a large portion of the work to present Brainerd as the antithesis to Arminianism. ‘Life’ had a major influence on the way that Native Americans were portrayed to the American and English public.
This 1856 edition was published in Scotland, features a preface by Reverend Horatio Bonar and is exceedingly rare!
