Circa 1877 Old Vintage United States American Parade Flag in Frame; Printed silk Flag with exceptional 38 "Great Star" or "Great Flower" pattern in the canton. In the reference book titled "The Stars and The Stripes" the author and flag historian Mastai refers to this "Great Star" pattern variant as the "Great Flower". They state regarding the variant design; "five asymmetrical petal shapes loop out" from the heart of a graceful "Great Flower Pattern". On July 4th, 1877, the 38th star was officially added to the US Flag for the entry of Colorado to the Union within the previous twelve months. This Flag has been professionally framed by the previous collector. It is housed in a black wood frame, and under UV resistant glass. It was pressure mounted with no use of adhesives or stitching. Ready to hang. Approximate flag size is 17" x 11-3/4". Exterior frame dimensions are 20-1/2" x 15".
