Lot 0163 Details
This imposing ginger jar with circling dragon may be attributed to Charles Noke, for it was noted that when he arrived at Doulton's Nile Street factory, Doulton had made the perfect marriage between their artists and Noke's modelling talent. This piece is decorated in the Spanish ware technique, whereby a gilded outline is given to the floral decoration. Retailed by Davis Collamore & Co New York, New York, the jar retains its original matching lid with US. Patent 31L.002 stamped on the bottom of the jar and inside of the lid. Doulton Burslem back stamp with Crown over Rosetta mark. Circa 1892.; Origin: England; Dimensions: 10.25"H x 9.5D;
Good - Missing gold on several spikes of the Dragon as normal wear with age. Small flake nibble on inside rim of lid
