Lot 0104 Details

Near East, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A massive high karat (22 kt) gold and stone ear ornament (or possibly a pendant/brooch) comprised of a large, teardrop/phallic shaped veined agate stone encased in a conical gold sheathing, with a long wire hoop extending across from one side to the other. The agate boasts stunning caramel hues with white and grey inclusions. Given the scale and precious materials involved in the creation of this piece, it was likely intended for an elite individual.
