Two Incunabula Leaves - Radak on Nevi'im Achronim

Lot 0081 Details

Description
Two leaves of the commentary of the Radak on the book of Yesha'aya. Was printed as part of his commentary on Nevi'im Achronim. Wadi al-Hakara (Guadalajara), Spain, 1482. Printed by Rabbi Shlomo Ben Moshe Ha'Levi Alkabetz. First edition of the Radak.

The printing house of Rabbi Shlomo Alkabetz of Spain (the grandfather of the kabbalist Rabbi Shlomo Alkabetz of Safed, the author of "Lecha Dodi") was the first Hebrew printing house in Spain and one of the first Hebrew printing houses that printed Hebrew books in general. It printed approximately twenty books and was the first to print the Passover Haggadah (in 1480).
An inscription on the colophon of the original complete volume indicated that the edition of the book was limited (only four hundred copies were printed). Thus, the rareness of the leaf before us!
The first leaf is from Yesha'aya chapter 32 and the second from chapter 43.
26 cm.
Condition: Damaged leaves professionally restored. Moth signs. Damage and omission of text.
