Rare Set of Twelve American Gothic Carved Mahogany Dining Chairs, c. 1830, attr. to Crawford Riddell, Philadelphia, foliate finials, arched crest, Gothicized back, square tapering legs, casters. Provenance: Acquired by the present owner from a Natchez, Mississippi, collector Note: A nearly identical suite of dining chairs in the historic Melrose, Natchez Collection (catalogue number NATC 325), is shown on its 1865 inventory. Ref.: http://www.museum.nps.gov/natc/
