Lot 89083 Details

Lenny Bruce Village Theatre Concert Poster (1964). First printing on thin white stock, for a group of shows on March 27 and 28, 1964 at New York's Village Theatre (the venue would become Bill Graham's Fillmore East in 1967). Measures 17.25" x 22.5". Near Mint Minus condition, with little wear.

These shows took place a mere month prior to his arrest at the Cafe Au Go Go in New York. He was taken in on obscenity charges by undercover officers who witnessed his performance, and after a widely-publicized trial, found guilty. The legendary comedian was posthumously pardoned in 2003 by then-governor of New York, George Pataki.
