RUSSIAN SILVER SAMOVAR, ST. PETERSBURG, C.1850, H 17 1/2" W 12" DIA 12":A Russian silver samovar, Adolf Sper, Assay-master Edward Brandenburg, St. Petersburg, circa 1850. Of tapering baluster form, the domed cover chased with foliage and topped with a bud finial, the spigot and the border of the base continuing the foliate design, and the handles chased to mimic bamboo shoots; complete with teapot rest, 84 standard. Weighs 197.79 troy ounces, approximately.Sold: Sotheby's New York: Wednesday, December 14, 1983, Lot 247.

With marks, scratches, and scuffs throughout commensurate with age and use. The ivory handle on the spigot is chipped.
