Description
A.E. LINTON, OIL ON CANVAS, C. 1890, H 34", L 27", FRONTIER SCENE:A.E. Linton (American, 19th-20th century). Untitled. 1890. Oil on canvas. Depicting a frontier scene with two figures, one horseback riding and one harvesting wild game, in front of a log cabin.
Condition
The canvas has been relined with a wax-lined canvas, and the stretchers have been replaced. There are small areas of overpainting, especially to edges of canvas and near the deer carcasses. There is craquelure throughout. There are areas of discoloration visible on the verso. The frame appears to be period appropriate, and shows wear in the form of scratches, marks, and rubbed corners.
