Description
Herend (Hungarian, founded 1826), mid to late 20th century. A set of 20 porcelain plates in the "Rothschild Bird" pattern, including 10 salad plates and 10 dinner plates. Each hand painted with two central birds surrounded by butterflies and insects, with a scalloped basket weave rim with a gilt edge. All marked to underside indicating production post-1948. Approximate diameter (salad) 7.5", diameter (dinner) 10".
Condition
Wear commensurate with age and use. Minor gilt loss to some, and utensil marks to most. Food accretions to some. Typical shelf wear to bases. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
