Unique piece in the world. No production any more. Size 547cm x 731cm (215 3/4 inches x 288 inches). Turkish style double knotted carpet. Pirot, Sarkoy, was once the most important rug-making center in the Balkans. Pirot is located on the historical main highway which linked central Europe with Constantinople. Pirot was also known as Şarköy in Turkish. The Pirot carpet varieties are also found in Bulgaria and Turkey, and in many other international collections. One of the chief qualities is the color effects achieved through the choice and arrangement of colors.
