    This is the two-volume publication of Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities (343 + 349 pages), with numerous black and white illustrations by Edmund Garrett.

    Please note that this lot has a confidential reserve. When you leave a bid in advance of the auction, submit your maximum.   • Condition
    The covers (app. 4.5" x 7"), silver art and lettering to blue cloth backgrounds, are in good condition, with spot stains, including a small surface tear to the back of Volume I, but with no other tears, no notable stains, no color fade. The spines are slanted but securely connected, with no looseness to the front or back covers. The inside cover spreads and page edges are foxed. Volume I has stains to many gutters, none of which extends into the printed areas. There are few stains to any page faces, other than the mentioned gutter stains. There are no stamps or other attachments.The only writings are gift inscriptions, dated 1897, to the front end pages. All the text and illustrations are clean and unfaded. There are no page tears or creases.
